The Eldred World War II Museum
| Mitchell Paige Hall is named after USMC Col. Mitchell Paige. Col Paige was awarded the Medal of Honor on Guadalcanal for his acts of bravery. Mitchell Paige Hall features Col. Paige's personal effects, such as his horseshoe pack, uniform and war souvenirs. Also on display is Col. Paige's dress whites featuring the Medal of Honor. |
The room also serves as the museum's auditorium. Equipped with a big screen television, the
Loop Hollow Heritage and Mitchell Paige videos play throughout the
day. Paige Hall is also where Memorial Day speakers address audiences and special events are
staged.
Mitchell Paige Hall also features a time line covering the period of 1933 to 1945, a life-sized statue
of Col. Paige at Guadalcanal, a mural of a Bill Mauldin cartoon and a world map showcasing spheres
of influence.
